NO MORE Internet Explorer 6!

Update: For a select few

IE6 is being phased out with a mandatory push from Microsoft, requiring all computers to upgrade to IE7.

The article from Microsoft mentions several ways you can disable the WGA-free update, so the war might not be over. But in my opinion, this is a major step forward.

Good to hear, but IE7 isn't *much* better than the 6 from my (limited) experience.

I disagree. While IE7 is still very BAD, it is, in my opinion, FAR better than IE6.

IE7 is the greater of two evils at this point. It doesn't work smoothly with our proxy and consumes substantially more RAM on our servers.

*Why* do you need advanced browsing on a server?

Why yes, I was! And I still stick by that.
I don't like IE6 any better than the next guy, I just don't think it's such an evil that so many people are making it.
I am ALL FOR getting rid of it (and this is one small step toward that)
Unfortunately, I recently found out that this is only to customers that use 'Windows Server Update Services' to update their computers, which is really just corporations.

But it is a step, nonetheless, and hopefully by doing this, it will create a spark for people to upgrade to IE7 or some other modern browser.
